Rumrunner Home

Rumrunner Home is one of those few places that I can always count on to find exactly what I am looking for.
Similar to going to my favorite restaurants in the Hamptons and knowing I am going to have a great meal, Rumrunner never fails to disappoint me.

With two locations in Wainscott and Southampton, Rumrunner features a wonderful selection of indoor and outdoor furniture, rugs, great lighting and accessories and everything from whimsical to modern, one-of-a-kind pieces to custom orders, recycled, reclaimed, eco-friendly and consumer friendly orders.

When I spoke with manager Mark Lappin about current “design” trends, we both concurred that more organic, especially in wood, often combined with steel was the current fad.

The juxtaposition of natural, free forms and industrial sleekness gives each piece of furniture a sense of individuality with an edge.

I particularly loved the Hazen Dining Table because of it’s modern, clean and sophisticated look which complemented its’ stainless steel base and grey wash finish very well.

Something that I found really intriguing about Rumrunner was their collection of furniture from Indonesia. They are all one-of-a-kind pieces that were constructed from naturally fallen trees and can be special ordered from overseas.

Rumrunner also features a diverse selection of art and accessories. My personal favorites were these limited editions of “Twisted Tulips”, framed in a somewhat baroque, pewter metallic painted wood. They retail for $1,060 each and will make quite an impact in the Hamptons or Manhattan.
