Rumba, an inspired Island Cuisine and Rum Bar, which opened a few months ago has hit Hampton Bays by storm.
Located on the Shinnecock Canal, with a sweeping view of the water; Rumba is the perfect “escape” from the Hamptons.
Owner and chef David Hersh brought his culinary skills and relaxed approach to dining to help make Rumba into an elite restaurant in the Hamptons.
Rumba could be viewed as a fun little waterfront oasis, with indoor and outdoor seating, a huge deck and additional seating right on the dock; where you can park your boat and enjoy a good meal and some reggae music.
Hersh prides himself on using the freshest ingredients for his dishes and has compiled a menu of the best version of signature dishes he has served before during his time in New Orleans.
After several visits to Rumba and sampling almost everything on his menu; my personal favorites are the Duck Empanadas and the Spinach Parmesan dip. Although, I’m not a fan of Oysters, the Oysters were a big hit at our table.

The marinated Rib Eye and Barbecue Ribs are my top two entrée choices; as they are so tender and have the perfect blend of flavors and spice.
For lunch, you can’t beat the jerk chicken, pulled pork, marinated steak or fish tacos, where you have a choice of three for $10.
Make sure to leave room for dessert because there are many great choices: the key lime pie, with it’s silky smooth key lime custard on a generous crunch of pecans and graham cracker crust and fresh whipped cream, the popular tres leches layer cake and the delicious ice cream sundae, of course.
They have a well-stocked bar with an extensive selection of rums, hence the name.
Rumba is also a great place for families as they have a fun kid’s menu.
As an added convenience, they will be offering shuttle service, to and from your boat, as well as delivery service to your boat, should you be inclined to dine “on board”.
Lastly, I should also mention, the friendly service makes it the kind of place you want to keep coming back to and you will!
