On Thursday, none of my girl friends wanted to go out so I set out with two gentlemen I knew, sort of. We went to Dune in a hot Porsche and literally within minutes I found myself conversing with an interesting crowd of total regulars. It was fascinating how receptive the other girls I met were. They introduced me to all their “man-friends” and took pictures with me. Generally in the city, women like playing defense. It was refreshing and actually a lot of fun…I danced on the banquettes and enjoyed meeting a lot of very tan men.

Friday came with a roar as four of my single girl friends and I couldn’t wait to hit the town and try a different scene, The Drift Inn also apparently knows as Neptune’s. At this ancient establishment, which looks like the set of Weekend at Bernie’s, hundreds of seemingly normal boys were on the prowl. They outnumbered the girls! We met a group of early-20-somethings from Boston who disguised themselves as much older and traveled in a large pack. They were quite entertaining to my friends but I lost patience and dragged my group to Pink Elephant. There I saw some friends from New York who made the night familiar and fun.

Saturday afternoon I had such a gorgeous waterfront dinner with my crew! I remembered the real reason I was summering in la-la land. We laughed for hours. That’s what life is really about, great friends and memories. If anything, a guy is just an added bonus!

In the evening, I headed with my plus one to the Social Life Estate July Fourth Party, and lo and behold. there was that gorgeous vampire from “Twilight,” Kellan Lutz. Just seeing someone legitimately good-looking renewed my hope right there!
